Master Hagar's Chambers
In the early 1970's, prominent Harrisburg attorney James Hagar
and family resided at the Conewago manor farm, as the Inn was known then. Master
Hagar converted the stone barn to stables for horses and set up riding rings in the
meadows. Many fox hunts, originating here at the Manor, ventured throughout the
creek valley. After a long morning of hunting fox on horseback, the men would return
to the dining room for a hearty after-the-hunt breakfast, devouring a hot meal and
gulping scalding coffee.
Master Hagar visited us during our restoration of the home
and explained that during his residence, the décor of the Manor was very colonial.
He reminisced with us about his many fond memories of living here and thanked us
for returning the property to its glorious past.
