Dr. Alexander Suite
In the late 1800's, Dr. Alexander hired a team of carpenters
to add his style and influence to the Manor. We know this because we uncovered
hand-written history concerning the restoration behind a ledger board in the closet.
The house was already 150 years old at the time of this phase of restoration.
During the time that he occupied the premises, the doctor
experimented with vaccines in the stone barn and mailed advertisements for his
work from the post office, which was located in his home. Dr. Alexander founded a
vaccine farm in Marietta, PA, which is now known as Wyeth-Ahearst Laboratories.
The style of this room is meant to reflect the doctor's
interest in travel and adventure. We hope it helps to transport you to another
time and place as well.
